The Fundación 26D is a national reference thanks to its psychosocial intervention programs, dedicated for 14 years to improving the quality of life of elderly LGTBIQ+ people. Their work includes promoting and creating the first residence for elderly LGTBIQ+ people in Villaverde, Madrid, a significant milestone for our community.

At Colors Sitges Link, we feel deeply committed to the well-being of elderly LGTBIQ+ people. That’s why, for some time, we’ve been working on the project “No More Closets” or “Gent Gran sense armarios,” as we like to call it. This project seeks to make visible and support those who have lived their identity in silence, providing them with a space where they can fully be themselves.

It is an honor for us to announce that Fundación 26D, recognizing the importance of our work, has proposed that we co-organize the First International Congress on Elderly LGTBIQ+ People. This event, which will take place on September 28 in Sitges, will be a unique opportunity to address the specific challenges and needs of elderly people within the LGTBIQ+ community.

The location of the event is yet to be confirmed, but we can reveal that it will be a day rich in content and debates. It will feature several round tables with the participation of Catalan entities that have programs dedicated to elderly LGTBIQ+ people, such as Enllaç, Plataforma LGTBI+, as well as Colors Sitges Link and Fundación 26D.

Additionally, the congress will have the presence of Federico Armenteros, president of Fundación 26 de Diciembre, and Prado García, president of the LGTBIQ+ association Colors Sitges Link, who will share their perspectives and experiences.

To close the day, we will have the pleasure of enjoying a live episode of Mariconsulta, the popular queer psychology podcast hosted by psychologists Gaston Auguste and Oriol García. And, of course, we will end with a snack to continue sharing and celebrating together.
