“No més armaris” Project: An Essential Service That Continues

The “No més armaris” project, co-financed by the Fundación Obra Social La Caixa, has been a fundamental pillar in providing support and assistance to people over 60 years old in situations of social and economic vulnerability. This program, with a 12-month economic duration, ended its agreement on September 30, 2024.

Although we have already reapplied for the next social aid, we won’t know if we receive the grant, nor the amount awarded, until March 2025. Meanwhile, at Colors Sitges Link, we have decided to continue with the project, aware of how much it cost us to get it started and the positive impact it has had on the people who depend on it.

To ensure continuity during these months, we have the support of two social work interns, Emma and Edith, who are bringing their energy and knowledge. In addition, Miriam Erazo, our social worker, will also continue collaborating until we know if we receive new aid.

We continue offering free services and activities to our community. However, due to economic limitations, some activities such as Qi Gong cannot be fully covered by the organization. For this reason, like other activities such as theater workshops, language classes, or the choir, certain activities, like Qi Gong, will have a monthly fee.

If we receive the aid next year, people over 60 years old who are part of the “No més armaris” program, due to their vulnerable situation, will be able to access the Qi Gong workshop for free. For everyone else, the activity will continue with an adjusted monthly fee.

We want to remind you that at Colors Sitges Link, we organize many free or low-cost activities and events, and all this is possible thanks to the contributions of our members. Most pay an annual fee of 50€, while those with fewer resources have a solidarity fee of 15€. However, these fees do not cover all expenses, and we depend on grants to keep going. Even so, we cannot base all our activity solely on grants, because this would mean that if we don’t get them, we wouldn’t be able to carry out our programs and activities.

That’s why now more than ever, we need your collaboration. Every little contribution counts so that we can continue offering the services that are so important to our community. We know that together, as we always have, we will move forward, building a safe, inclusive space full of activities that help us all grow.
