Art has always been a bulwark where sexual and gender dissent has been able to express, manifest and show the world how they lived and felt their identities, their ways of living and loving.

From the poet Sappho, in Ancient Greece, to the poet García Lorca, at the beginning of the 20th century; from artists like Frida Kahlo, singers like Chavela Vargas or performers like Leigh Bowery, many have been artists who through their works have become speakers and referents of dissent.

In short, his words, his stroke, his actions have become a cry for life and freedom of expression. Today, May 17, International Day against LGTBIphobia, the groups for sexual and gender dissent in Garraf want to not only denounce the aggression, abuse and discrimination that we continue to suffer, but also to call for to follow the cry of life: to love ourselves with love and freedom, to express what we feel, as we are, without fear …

For this reason, we have been encouraged to recite the poem “Solstice” by the Catalan poet Maria Mercè Marçal, to remember that the struggle continues and that there have been many people who have preceded us with their personal and collective revolution. A revolution that is still like the solstice: it announces a change of era, a transformation. For us it is clear # because to keep fighting # 17M
