The Garraf queer cultural festival kicks off in Sitges!

This year’s edition will be held at the Mercat Vell in Sitges, except for some activities that will be held at El Prado and the Palau del Rei Moro. As a novelty, we will have workshops, talks and conferences, as well as a market, concerts, queer varietés and a talent contest.

On 30 September we open the Sitges Queer Fest with the show Queer Varietés at the Mercat Vell in Sitges, a show made up of short pieces by multidisciplinary artists.
Although Friday 30th is the opening, the festival’s programme includes activities starting on 27th September.

That same day, Núria Corretgéwill give the XpressAr(t), an express workshop for young people up to 18 years old.

Wednesday 28th, Rubén Cardoso, the mythical transformist of El Comodín in Sitges and El Cangrejo del Raval in Barcelona, lands in the auditorium – Café Teatre “Jofre Vila i Soler” of El Prado (first floor) to show us a very personal show.

On Thursday 29 September, we continue with celebrities: the most renowned author of homosexual literature in Spain, Luis Antonio de Villena, will hold the conference «Sabias heterodoxias de Pepito Zamora» as part of Pepito Zamora‘s parallel activities. After the conference in the Saló d’Or space at the Palau de Maricel, the Sitges Catering School will present the Perfidia cocktail, designed in his day by the artist.

On Friday 30th, in the same place, La Peça del Mes dedicated to the Tríptic del Ral-li by Isidre Roset-Juan, one of the parallel and complementary activities to the exhibition of Pepito Zamora.

On the same day, official inauguration with the Queer Varietés.Theatre, dance, music, performance, magic and humour all come together on the stage of the Mercat Vell, which will open its doors from 8.30pm so that you can take a seat while you have a drink (there will be a bar service). Local artists such as Dante Martín or Martin Lewton, la danza performativa de Labitti, la comedia de Alexia Luna, the poetic improvisation of Luca Andrea, the incredible voice of Marta Baldellou, the queer magic of Berni’s MagDrag… All presented by the popular singer and actor Dave Zulueta, the well-known and beloved artist who participated in the TV show Operación Triunfo in 2018.

During the weekend you can’t miss the Pepito Zamora routes that bring the time forward to 10:30 in the morning. Remember that these routes include a guided and commented visit in three languages to the Pepito Zamora exhibition at the Museu de Sitges. In the afternoon we will also have the special Sitges Queer route.

In addition, there will be a Queer Market at the Mercat Vell from Friday afternoon until Sunday, where you can find inclusive and genderless toys, clothes designed and suitable for everyone, Eva Navarro and her fantasy and henna make-up, photographic art by the artist Cuitláhuac Correa, a book stall… And a bar where you can have a drink while you stroll around the Mercat Vell or wait for the show to start.

Also on Saturday 1 October, the poet and rhapsodist Trizas de Papel will give a workshop “Find your poetic voice” which will last all day, divided into two blocks. Those who take part will have the opportunity to go on stage on Sunday to perform their poems and put into practice what they have learnt.

Saturday is packed with activities. At 12 noon we will be waiting for you to have a vermouth during the round table on gender, identity and sexual orientation, composed by three experts: María Melgarejo (jurist), Juan Ramón Quintana (journalist) and Lorena S. Gimeno (sexologist) from Sexualizados_as.

In the intervals between activities, we will enjoy the music of Julian Kabak DJ.

And in the evening, two concerts: local singer Alexia Riva will open the event with an intimate concert and will warm up the engines to welcome El Rey del Glam, an Alaska tribute band, from their beginnings in Pagamoides, Dinarama and nowadays, Fangoria.

On Sunday 2 October, we’ll get up early with Javi Clancarakol presenting his storytelling show with live music, “Do unicorns exist?” for the youngest (and not so young) members of the family. Inclusive stories that make a difference.

At 12:30h, Vermut & Jazz with Vicky Branch, another incredible voice that has been in the TV spotlight, this time, La Voz 2017.

We will close the day and the festival with the II edition of the Colors Talent Show, a talent contest with Rubén Cardoso as master of ceremonies, and actors and actresses Jimmy Shaw, Antonio del Valle, Ester Soto and Dave Zulueta as jury. In addition, the public will also have the chance to vote. Last year’s winners, King G. and Gvillermo Rueda, will perform and present the awards. In addition, Trizas de Papel and the students of their poetry workshop will perform while the jury deliberates.

New this year, we have VOUCHERS for four shows and VIP Support CSL passes with which, in addition to collaborating with Colors Sitges Link, you have some advantages.

We look forward to seeing you!
