International Trans Memory Day.

For many, a day of celebration. Not for me personally, but it is a very special day to remember all the murdered people who are victims of transphobia, hatred and fear. And also, one day to say ENOUGH! We don’t want to turn up dead. WE WANT TO BE ALIVE!

Today more than ever, I can understand with absolute clarity the meaning of the phrase “Forbidden to forget”, and how important it is to tell new generations about all the human rights violations that humanity has experienced.

We are a part of that violent history. Survivors of a heterosexual nation. The brave ones who, despite imposition, mandates, and social transphobia, kick the board, break the binary mould and jump into the void in search of our identity. Who else would dare to leave their name to wear one without history, without memory, without life?

Who else would dare to give up their name to wear one without history, without memory, without life?

For many years, they tried to make us believe that we were sick or that we were born in the wrong body. I want to tell you that no, I was not born in the wrong body, I was born in the wrong SOCIETY, where we have always been punished for the simple fact of being able to choose, to build the life we always wanted, the life we dream of, the life we need, without hurting anyone. We have been punished just for going after our feelings.

It is time to erase the sexual and gender norms that they wanted to impose on us and that our parents learned through an educational and social system that abhors and punishes all forms of dissent, with threats, intimidation and even death.

For all the people who are no longer with us.

Today more than ever, let us raise the flag that empowers and represents us. For all the people who are no longer with us, for all those victims who opened the way to try to leave us a path a little easier, with less prejudice and more courage.

Happy Trans Memory Day. HAPPY FIGHT! 🏳️‍⚧️
