Hundreds of people came to the rally call of Colors Sitges Link, against LGBTIQ+phobic aggressions in the early hours of January 1st 2023 in Sitges.

At the rally, called for Saturday 14 January at 5:30 pm at the Sitges Town Hall square, was also attended by the Catalan Minister for Equality and Feminism, Tània Verge, the Director General of LGBTI+ Public Policies, Xavier Florensa, and other political and institutional representatives of the town council, such as the mayoress, Aurora Carbonell, as well as organisations and associations from Sitges and Garraf (the feminist assembly No em toquis la Tecla, Punt R de Ribes, Locomotora 21 and l’Esquerda de Vilanova i la Geltrú).

After the initial speech of thanks, read by the president of Colors Sitges Link, Pedro Martín, and the vice-president, Prado García, nine comrades, among them some predecessors of the presidency (Brandon Jones, Martín Martín and Isidre Roset), read the manifesto in the three official languages of the organisation, Catalan, Spanish and English, in which they denounced that the aggressions, thefts and the sale of drugs in the street are creating a climate of insecurity in our Vila and put at risk the coexistence, not only of the LGTBIQ+ community, but also of all the citizens, as well as endangering Sitges as a historical destination for the collective.

In addition, we demand a series of actions, such as an “urgent and forceful” plan of measures such as, for example, increasing security in the closure of entertainment venues, and a commitment to invest in education.

To end the event, Gvillermo Rueda (winner of Queer Talent 2021) and the indispensable Salma Lucie song Right Choices and This is me, respectively.
