As you probably know, May 17th is the worldwide commemoration of the International Day Against LGBTIphobia – also known as IDAHOT for short.
It was on this day in 1990 that the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases.
To honour this date, and in collaboration with the Town Hall, we have organized an official event for next Wednesday at 6pm which will include the reading of a manifesto in front of the monument “Triangle Against Homophobia” located on the promenade (next to the Kansas restaurant)
The manifesto will be read in 3 languages: Spanish, Catalan and English.
As in previous years, we will proceed afterwards with the planting and/or offering of flowers around the monument to distinguish it.
We would also like to inform you that this year we will repeat the art installation displaying the 72 flags in front of the monument of all remaining countries who still maintain active laws against the LGBT community in the hope that this raises awareness of the tragic reality of LGBTIphobia around the world.
It is vital that our association has the full support of its members at this type of public events.
Therefore, we hope we can count on your attendance and that you will also promote the event among your family and friends.
See you on Wednesday, spread the word !
