It is important to know that the reporting process according to the catalonian law 11/2014 (Ley de Derechos de las Personas Gais, Lesbianas, Bisexuales y Transexuales y para la Erradicación de la Homofobia) is not via a court of law, but administrative and free.

The steps to follow are:

  • In the case of physical assault, go to Emergency Services. In the case of a verbal assault, seek psychiatric assistance, if necessary.
  • If confronted with an assault, call 112 to seek help and protection and report the incident/attack to the Mossos d’Esquadra police (they have a protocol for these events in place) and if necessary to an emergency judge as well.
  • If the incident can be classified as homophobic (contempt, isolation, rejectionor discrimination) complete a written report or submit it online to the Departament de Benestar Social i Familia de la Generalitat web by clicking here
  • Report the incident/attack to the Generalitat’s LGTBI department (Tel. 935517717).
