Celebrating Diversity in the Noir Genre

The Subur Negre LGTBIQ+ Award opens its doors to diversity and authenticity in noir literature, seeking to bring visibility to the experiences and realities of the LGTBIQ+ social collective. The Subur Negre Festival, in collaboration with Colors Sitges Link and Padula&Partners, this award represents a milestone in contemporary narrative by offering a platform to explore diverse identities and interpersonal relationships in the context of the noir genre.
The jury, composed of seven members of Colors Sitges Link, seven from the Subur Negre Festival, and seven from Padula&Partners, reflects the commitment of these organizations to representation and inclusion in literature. Their task will be to select the works that best capture the essence and complexity of the LGTBIQ+ collective.

The award’s guidelines emphasize the importance of approaching the LGTBIQ+ collective with sensitivity and respect. Participants are invited to explore the diversity of experiences and references, presenting a variety of LGTBIQ+ characters in leading and/or supporting roles. Writers are encouraged to overcome and avoid stereotypes, promoting authentic and plural representation.

Submissions will open on April 10, 2024, and close at 24:00 on June 15, 2024. Interested parties can download the full award guidelines in the PDF file available at the following link.
