Our friend and GSL member Steven Boyce is the Chair of Trustees for School’s Out UK and LGBT History Month and has agreed to give us a talk about LGBT History Month on Saturday February 24th at 6pm at our Centre.

The so-called LGBT History Month, which is an annual event that has been happening since 1994 in the United States and since 2005 in the United Kingdom. As the name suggests, the event is dedicated to the study and promotion of the history surrounding LGBT rights and other civil rights in general. The objective is to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of everyone.

As part of planning in the UK, the organisation Schools Out UK plays a very significant part. They have been working for 40 years to bring the LGBT cause to reality within schools to both students and teachers. Their role is key since an essential part of the project is the participation/ introduction of events, lectures, presentations and educational resources (videos, books, etc.) directly to the classrooms during the month of February.

This initiative has the support of the Central Government and the Ministry for Education, so there is a dedicated national plan for the event to take place in all schools throughout United Kingdom.

The conference will be in english, but spanish translation will be provided as much as is feasible.

The event is free and open to all the public.

We would greatly appreciate your attendance.
