In these years of struggle, we have made progress in the conquest of our rights. The diversity and transversality of our community, little by little, is occupying a social space that makes us forget how much remains to be achieved. In 2023 we started the year, precisely, with an LGTBIQ+phobic aggression in our beloved Sitges.

That is why we still need an international day to remember that we have not yet managed to eradicate LGTBI+phobia.

In 2023, our slogan is Always Together: United in Diversity and Adversity. Nevertheless, we will continue with the actions of the slogan “Digues la teva!” (Speak your mind!), because today, more than ever, we have to be united in our diversity and in the face of adversity. Because today, more than ever, we have to speak our minds, raise our voices, and make ourselves heard. They want us to be silent, invisible, as if we don’t exist. They come from the past, stepping strongly, wanting to revoke the rights we have fought for. But they can’t silence us or put us back in the closet. We are here, whether they like it or not. So, speak your mind, don’t stay silent. They will hear us.

We call you on Wednesday 17th May, at 17:30h at the Cap de la Vila in Sitges. Around 18:00h, we will start a march towards the sculpture of the Pink Triangle of Sitges, in the Ps. Marítim.

We invite the entities of Sitges, the citizens, and anyone who wants to be part of diversity and stand with us in adversity, to “speak up.” Against normalized LGTBIQ+ phobia, against bullying, against violence, aggression, and questioning, against those who hate diversity and democracy, against hate crimes perpetrated and praised by them.

Anyone who wants to “speak up” will have the opportunity to offer flowers, light a candle, read a written piece, perform, recite a poem… Any personal expression, in memory of those who are discriminated against, fight, and die worldwide because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In front of the Pink Triangle, the unequivocal symbol of our LGTBIQ+ community, we will place an urn, taking advantage of the upcoming municipal elections. There, you can deposit your requests for the municipal politicians. This year, our voice rises against the LGTBIQ+ phobia that exists in Sitges. And we want to be the ones asking them what they will do to combat it, apart from taking a photo or including conventionally gay CIS men on their lists.

The event will be broadcast live on social networks and a photographic compilation will be made. Different participations are expected from members of Sitges organisations and other collectives from the Garraf, as well as members of Colores Sitges Link, artists, citizens…

At 19:00h, representatives of the consistory will be received by our president, Prado García, so that she can also give her speech.

We will read the manifesto against LGTBIQ+phobia by representatives of our collective. The manifesto will be read in Catalan, Spanish and English in order to symbolise the diversity of languages and origins of our community in Sitges. Copies of the manifesto in the three languages will be given to the attendees.

If you want to participate in the event, please send us an email explaining what you are going to do and how long it will take, so that we can establish an order and time control. Write to us at 17m@colorssitgeslink.org.

Come, participate and “say what you think!” against LGTBIQ+phobia.
