On the occasion of the International Day against LGTBIQphobia, we have organised, with the support of the Cineclub Sitges, a special screening on Thursday 11 May, in VOS, of the film “Joyland” (Pakistan, 2022), by Saim Sadiq.
Nominated for Best Film and winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2022. Winner of Best Foreign Film at the Independent Spirit Awards. Finalist for Best International Film at the Oscars 2023.
JOYLAND tells the story of Haider, the youngest son of a classic patriarchal family in Lahore (Pakistan), who secretly joins an erotic dance theatre troupe where his feelings for his wife are called into question when he falls in love with Biba, an ambitious young trans star, sparking a revolution in the family.
In addition, the screening of the animated short film How Was Your Day? with the presence of Adam Iungman, author of the short film. After the film, a colloquium on the theme of the film and LGTBIQfòbia.
