For the Transgender Visibility Day program we have organised a special screening of the documentary “Una Niña” (France, 2020), by Sébastien Lifshitz, with the support of Cine El Prado.

This luminous, moving and necessary documentary by Sébastian Lifshitz is a true jewel of sensitivity, acceptance and love, which was presented internationally at the Berlinale-Berlin International Film Festival (Panorama), won the Best Non-Fiction Film Award (Las New Waves) of the Seville European Film Festival 2020 and has been nominated for Best European Documentary at the 2020 European Film Awards, also achieving the Best European Sound Award. Last year it also won the Best Documentary Award at the Chicago International Film Festival and the Best Film Award at the Ghent International Film Festival.

Sasha, 7, has always known that she is a girl, even though she was born trapped in a child’s body. As society fails, by not treating her like other girls her age, be it in her daily life at school, in ballet classes, or at birthday parties, her understanding and empathetic family leads a constant battle against the violent rigidity of social prejudices, to make their difference understood and accepted by everyone.
