Facing the loss of loved ones is a deeply moving experience, whether due to death, breakups, empty nest syndrome, the loss of beloved pets… This workshop is designed to offer tools and useful advice to our elders, helping them accept and manage their emotions.
Objective:
This grief work workshop, specifically designed for elderly members of the LGTBIQ+ community, aims to provide tools and strategies that facilitate the expression and management of emotions associated with grief.
It will be experiential and dynamic, ensuring that participants feel in a safe space where they can explore their feelings and share their experiences openly and without judgment.
Psychotherapeutic workshops (2) on grief aimed at elderly members of the LGTBIQ+ community.
Duration: 2 sessions of an hour and a half each.
Participants: group of 15 people maximum.
Conductors: Aida Aguilera Martínez and Lluís Fernández Bengoa, psychologists.
First session
- Introduction Presentation dynamics and group rules.
- Identification of losses (dynamics 1). what is grief Types of bereavement and bereavement associates Unique features of gay grief.
- Myths and beliefs in relation to mourning (dynamics 2). Normal vs pathological grief.
- Identification of emotions (dynamics 3). Awareness of the process of grief closure Evaluation and expectations in relation to the second session.
Second session
- Connect emotion-bodily sensations (dynamic 4: mindfulness).
- Emotional regulation strategies.
- Relationship between thoughts and emotion (dynamic 5: cognitive distortions).
- Changes experienced in the mourning process (dynamics 6 and 7).
- Closure Brief written assessment at individual level of positive aspects and areas for improvement of the workshop, in order to assess its impact and identify areas of improvement
