THE PRESIDENCY OF GAY SITGES LINK (GSL)

With the assistance of the committee, the GSL president’s roles are:

LEADERSHIP / DECISION MAKING

  1. To provide leadership and direction for the association
  2. To create and set the year’s goals for the association.
  3. To make decisions on behalf of the association that follows its vision, mission and overall direction.
  4. To maintain awareness of opportunities to grow the association, and help create activities that develops that growth.
  5. Evaluate the success of the association’s activities by coordinating with the people responsible for the different projects and keep informed of their status, as well as to liaise with and support colleagues undertaking specific duties or responsibilities within the association.
  6. To organize the Annual General Meeting (January/February) and other Extraordinary Meetings when needed.
  7. To safeguard the image of the association, especially on social media.
  8. In essence – the president of GSL should be leading, promoting and inspiring to make sure that is an association that is highly respected and admired by all.

COMMUNICATION / INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

  1. To develop and communicate the association’s vision, mission and overall direction.
  2. To chair and organize regular committee meetings – agenda, etc.
  3. To be the ‘face’ of the association – to be its spokesperson in front of local authorities (city council, police, etc.) and other organizations as well as to represent the association (or assign a representative) in events or acts organized by other associations or entities.
  4. Consult the committee in decision-making when the importance or relevance of the matter requires it.
  5. To develop relationships with key people throughout the local and wider communities.
  6. To delegate responsibilities to other association members where appropriate
  7. To facilitate direct contact with members by undertaking “shifts” in the office as circumstances or time demand/permit.
  8. To keep abreast on communications to members and other entities.

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

  1. To formulate and implement the strategic plan that guides the direction of the association
  2. Jointly with the Treasurer, to take overall responsibility for the financial wellbeing and propriety of the association and to keep abreast of its financial status.
  3. To consult and decide with the committee about non-recurring expenses of association funds
  4. To write and prepare the annual dossier for the City Council grant.
