On International Women’s Day, March 8th, we bid farewell to an exceptional figure, Isabel Pruna Andree. With her departure, the world loses not only an artist but also a courageous defender of human rights and an unwavering mother figure.

Isabel Pruna left an indelible mark on the artistic and activist community of Sitges. Her naïf artistic style, combining painting with the creation of embroidered tapestries, carried a message of awareness in the fight against AIDS and in memory of its victims.

Her commitment to the AIDS cause was evident throughout her life. Colors Sitges Link recognized her tireless work by awarding her the prestigious Pepito Zamora 2021 prize, in honor of her leadership and dedication to the rights of people affected by HIV/AIDS. Her artistic tapestries became a tool for visibility.

Isabel Pruna was a friend and a committed ally to our association because, “the only ones who have recognized my work and activism have been this association and the LGBTQ+ community,” she said with her peculiar mix of Catalan and French. On December 1st, 2023, we hung one of her tapestries again to commemorate World AIDS Day on the facade of our headquarters. Additionally, Isabel gifted us one hundred bookmarks of her own creation to give to attendees of the Solidarity Gala. Her generous support leaves a sad void.

With her steadfast determination to give voice to the silenced, Isabel Pruna leaves a legacy of courage, sweetness, and admiration.

At Colors Sitges Link, we pay tribute to this extraordinary woman who will always be present in our hearts and in our fight for a fairer and more inclusive world.
