Flamenco has sung about lovesickness, beauty or poverty, fatiguitas… But for some time now, the defense and vindication of dissident, non-conforming gender identities that break with the normative , has begun to be part of this genre that, traditionally, has welcomed those whom society left on the sidelines.
Flamenco Queer is part of this new queer, feminist, non-binary and dissident flamenco.
The Flamenco Queer show is a representation of the trajectory and identity inside and outside of flamenco. It represents the deepest styles of dance, singing and guitar, through a contemporary narrative and aesthetic, and makes clear the personal link of flamenco with queer and popular culture.
The strength of this project is in the authenticity of the identity and, of course, a representation of multidisciplinary artists who support and collaborate in the project.
During its performance, Flamenco Queer combines elements of drag and performance with dancing, singing, toque and clapping in the purest Flamenco Queer style.
