The Pepito Zamora Award was established four years ago by the LGTBIQ+ Colors Sitges Link association with the aim of promoting the cultural visibility of the LGTBIQ+ community in Sitges.

The first year, the award was granted to Nazario (Nazario Luque), a comic book artist, with Anarcoma the transvestite detective being his most well-known work, published in the magazine El Víbora and translated into various languages.

The second year, we decided to award Isabel Pruna, a Sitges artist, for her constant work in support of the rights of people with HIV. She is a role model in the fight against the stigma of diseases and unfounded prejudices.

Last year, the award went to Josep Maria Rosselló, an artist from Tarragona with a Sitges soul. Rosselló belongs to the old revolutionary guard, never saying no when we asked for collaboration for our solidarity auctions or to devise tributes and recognitions. His studies on Federico García Lorca in Tarragona are a reference that guides our memory working group.

This year, we award the prize to Pepa Nolla, an activist in the field of family awareness of the Cuir phenomenon. Sexual diversity within the family is becoming more normal every day, but the acceptance of this sexual diversity must go hand in hand. And she, Pepa, has done it through the Association of Parents and Mothers, families of gays, lesbians, and transsexuals. Her testimony, reflected in the book ¿De verdad no pasa nada?, is a manifesto in favor of LGTBIQ+ rights and a magnificent guide for parents discovering a new aspect in the upbringing of their children.

José de Zamora would be proud of these individuals who, with their constant work, make the Cuir phenomenon (queer, trans, lesbian) a palpable reality that evolves with current and future times.

Not one step back!!
